Philip Roth and Europe Symposium

On March 20, 2026, a day after Roth's 93rd birthday, we celebrated him at Trieste during the symposium Philip Roth and Europe. We had three different panels. The first one was dedicated to "Roth in Prague," and was moderated by Debra Shostak, with presentations by Aimee Pozorski, David Brauner, and Maggie McKinley. The second panel, "Roth Across the Nations," was moderated by Pia Masiero with presentations by Sergia Adamo, Rachele Puddu, and Simone Sannio.

We learned a lot about Roth during our productive and joyous days together, especially regrading the influence of European authors on his work, his reception abroad, and the humanizing nature of storytelling so necessary today in our polarized world.
