Philip Roth Society at ALA Symposium on American Fiction (1890-present)

On October 8-9, 2010, the Philip Roth Society will sponsor a panel at the American Literature Association Symposium on American Fiction (1890-present) to be held in Savannah, GA. The panel is titled “Philip Roth and the Holocaust,” and the papers will include:

• “Philip Roth’s Real Name: Jewish American Fiction After the Holocaust” – Shaun Clarkson, Texas State University

• “Fighting Ghosts with Ghosts: Philip Roth’s Redirection of the Problem of Sho’ah Representation” – Peter Herr, Universität des Saarlandes

• “Guilt of the Living: The Trivial, the Tragic, and Rationalization Post Factum in Roth’s “Eli, the Fanatic” – James Duban, University of North Texas
