PRS member Jacques Berlinerblau taught a seminar on Philip Roth in 2017. One of his students, Audrey Rouhandeh, had complicated feelings about Roth’s portrayals of women. She shared those feelings in class. In the intervening years, they occasionally corresponded while Berlinerblau worked on his book (released this week) The Philip Roth We Don’t Know: Sex, Race, and Autobiography (University of Virginia Press).
