Call for Papers – “Philip Roth and Narrative” Panel at the 2013 ALA Conference

At next year’s 24th annual American Literature Association Conference (to be held at the Westin Copley Place in Boston, May 23-26), the Philip Roth Society will be sponsoring a panel entitled “Philip Roth and Narrative.” We welcome proposals for papers on any aspects of this topic, for example papers that bring a narratological approach to Roth’s writing, underscore the theme of storytelling, or focus attention on one or more of Roth’s various narrators. Proposals/abstracts (not exceeding 300 words) for 20 minute papers should be emailed to the Roth Society program chair, David Gooblar, at gooblarPRS [at] gmail.com, by January 10, 2013.

Those whose abstracts are accepted, and go on to present a conference-length essay at the ALA Conference, are encouraged to expand significantly their final papers and submit them for consideration for publication in Philip Roth Studies. Please note that acceptance of a conference paper does not guarantee publication in the journal nor does it influence in any way journal consideration or acceptance.

To present a paper as part of a Roth Society panel at the ALA, participants must be members of the Philip Roth Society in good standing and register for the conference. For membership information, please see the “Membership” page on the the Roth Society’s website. For information on the cost of conference registration, accommodation, etc., please see the ALA website.
